He closed his eyes, and imagined taking the first path ... he pictured a cozy stroll past ancient maples, the leaves just starting to transform into their autumnal hue. A cool breeze tickled his fur. He smiled. 2/2 He opened his eyes and cooed gently. Then he looked to his right and pictured the other path. Grease stains. Abdominal bloating. Terrible thirst. 1/5 The world machine had been making weird noises for some time now. The gerbils collapsed inn their sleeping quarters after another hard turn at the wheel, trying to save as many #PendingGerbil's as possible from oblivion. @NonFunGerbils #ForkingGerbil 2/5 The #ForkingGerbil woke up abruptly to the sound of sirens. 3/5 The red alarm lights were blinking, panicked gerbils running everywhere. The message on the loudspeaker was clear though. «This is an emergency, all young gerbils to the upper tunnels! I repeat, Emergency, all young gerbils to the upper tunnels!» 4/5 The #ForkingGerbil ran like he never had run before. The sound of schrieking metal intensifing in his ears. It kept getting louder, until it grew to a level where he had to just sit down and cover his ears and eyes. 5/5 When he opened them again, he saw just unfamiliar faces around. The way back was sealed off, and he realized with a bang: He was never seeing his family again. He was a #ForkingGerbil.

1/3 Should it be a hard or soft fork, pondered the #ForkingGerbil . After all, the repeated squeaks of “fork this” were persistent and growing louder, but they were not clear on which path to take. As if it were even a choice, really... 2/3 With a soft fork, going back to past gerbils was possible - they may not be any better than they were before (something about not being able to teach an old gerbil new tricks), but no gerbils left behind. Leaving bigger gerbil pools certainly has appeal for some. But ohhhh, 3/3 there’s nothing like the hard forks - there’s no going back after one of those. Gerbils hard forked & tossed aside, making a clean break. Out with the old & in with only the new and/or improved. What a silly question, #ForkingGerbil thought... it’s a hard fork or nothing at all!
