Satta Labs: Teaching Kids Money Habits Without Mentioning the Blockchain

In an unplanned but insightful conversation, Maggie, the founder of Satta Labs, discussed her mission to tackle a critical gap in education: financial literacy for children. Satta Labs is building a gamified learning app designed to teach kids essential money habits that are not traditionally covered in the school system.

The App: Fun, Gamified Learning

The core idea is to make learning money habits—such as savings, budgeting, the value of money, and financial confidence—fun and approachable. Satta Labs has developed 12 AI-powered characters (princesses and princes) that act as mentors within the app.

The current game structure involves a child downloading the app, picking a character, learning a lesson, playing a game, and earning gems. The focus is on the foundation, which includes encouraging kids to openly talk about money and ask questions, an area many adults find intimidating.

The Web3 Pivot and the "Gateway"

Maggie's background is unconventional, stemming from 10 years in the wellness industry, followed by real estate, before building Satta Labs from the heart, inspired by her younger self. This project is truly meaningful to her because she sees so many people struggling with finance.

While Satta Labs is building its infrastructure on-chain and plans to eventually integrate Web3 technology, the current focus is finding product-market fit using the traditional route. Maggie learned early on that mentioning "blockchain" or "crypto" can immediately alienate parents and teachers.

"When I told her that this is going to be on chain, she immediately had a straight face and she's like, oh, we don't do Twitter. We don't do crypto. And that was something that I needed to learn."

Because of this, she deliberately leaves out the Web3 component when talking to parents and teachers. The app is intentionally designed to be a simple, accessible experience, masking the underlying technology. Maggie believes Satta Labs could be a gateway for people to start accepting blockchain technology, similar to how the internet eventually became universally adopted in the early 2000s.

Satta Labs, where Satta means "power" in Hindi, is focused on giving financial power to the next generation. The company is currently exploring an NFT collection in the near future.
